Wrath of the Lich King Classic is on the horizon, and with that comes the Pre-Patch, slowly introducing new systems and content before the full expansion goes live.

This page acts as a comprehensive breakdown of the release date and time of the patch, the full patch notes, and when certain content will drop leading into the Lich King's full return.

Blizzard has announced that the Pre-Patch will go live on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022, with maintenance scheduled to start from 7am PDT in North America. Downtime is expected to conclude at 8am PDT on Classic servers and 3pm PDT on Classic Burning Crusade servers.

For those on EU servers, the Pre-Patch won't arrive until 3am CEST on August 31st.

When the Pre-Patch goes live, you will be able to do a few things relevant to the expansion as a whole. One of which is your ability to create your first Death Knight, unrestricted access to the new Inscription profession, and the various system updates that WotLK brings.

The content roll-out is as follows:

• New Realms and Death Knight Creation - August 31st
  • Skyfury (PvP) Realm available for character creation and play, as well as Maladath (Normal)
• Zombie Plague Event - September 6th to September 13th
  • A mysterious affliction begins to make its way through the capital cities. Players must be vigilant to avoid falling victim to its deadly effects.
• Scourge Invasion - September 13th
  • In several locations throughout Azeroth, players must coordinate a defensive stand against the attacking Necropolis and defeat Scourge forces to gain powerful rewards.
• Brewfest - September 20th to October 6th
  • Partake in activities and timed events to earn Brewfest souvenirs and achievements during this brewtiful holiday event.
• WotLK Launch - September 26th
• Post Launch - Arena Season 4 begins with the weekly reset between October 4th and 5th.
• Post Launch - Naxxramas, The Eye of Eternity, and the Obsidian Sanctum are available at 3pm PDT.

• Joyous Journeys XP buff will continue until Classic WotLK launches on September 26th.
• Outland XP has been diminished.

• There have been changes to Battleground, with reworked queue systems and rewards.
• Achievements are being brought in, so you can keep track of your journey, in both successful and unsuccessful exploits.
